SIHR 2021 Paul Kitchen Award

On Saturday, May 15 at the annual meeting of the Society for International Hockey Research (SIHR: https://sihrhockey.org) the award winners were announced for the 2020 calendar year. We are honoured to advise that as authors of The Golden Years we were selected to receive the Paul Kitchen Award for the best hockey research project produced during the past calendar year.

Nominations for the competition were open to any books, documentaries or digital forms of expression (website, blog, Facebook page, etc.) that came to market in 2020. SIHR created this award in 2016 to honour an esteemed member and past president,  the late Paul Kitchen, in recognition of his efforts to promote and preserve hockey history within and outside of SIHR.

I received the Bee Hive book today. Holy cow! It is sensational!!!! Extraordinary research and brilliant design. Wow!!! You guys did a phenomenal job! You should be immensely proud.

I have only given it a cursory look but I’m anxious to dig in. Bee Hive photos were a huge part of my life and one of the reasons I have such a passion for hockey. As well, they are an important link to my Dad. I have his collection from the 1930s and he introduced me to collecting through the 1960s until the end. Thank you for publishing this! Kevin

Just received the new book. Thank you for your kind words in the inscription to me.

Last night I went through it rather quickly, as it was exciting with the turning of each page! Love the layout and the chronological run through the years. The Snippets were a great way of interjecting information along the way.

Great quality book, super informative, very well done! Congratulations again, it is a hobby revelation! Bobby
